The next seed exhibition and sale fair was held in Shamakhi district. The event was organized by the Agrarian Innovation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture within the framework of Agrarian innovation festivals. Farmers from Shamakhi, Gobustan, Ismayilli, Agsu, Goychay regions took part in the event held in Heydar Aliyev Park. 

The fairs, organized by the Agrarian Innovation Center, Agrarian Services Agency, State Seed Fund, Azerbaijan Seed Growers Association, aim to form the local seed market, provide access to certified seeds, and establish direct relations between seed producers and farmers.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, the head of Shamakhi district executive power, Tahir Mammadov, spoke about the work done in the direction of the development of agriculture in our country, the steps taken in the direction of ensuring food security, and the importance of the events organized in the regions.

Director of Agrarian Innovation Center Anar Jafarov pointed out that more than 20 seed farmers are participating in the fair organized in Shamakhi today. The holding of such fairs in the regions ensures access to quality seeds for farmers, and at the same time creates the basis for direct contact between seed producers and farmers.

Jafar Maharramov, the acting chairman and deputy chairman of the Agrarian Services Agency, said that such fairs are of great importance in providing farmers with certified seeds. He noted that providing access to certified seeds for farmers is one of the main goals, and fairs help to achieve this goal.

Madina Aliyeva, chairwoman of the Azerbaijan Seed Growers' Association, emphasized the importance of selecting regionalized and certified planting material in order to achieve high productivity. He noted that at the fairs, farmers have the opportunity to make a different choice, they get the opportunity to get seeds that are fully suited to the climatic conditions and the characteristics of the soil.

At the event, farmers were given detailed information about the selection of varieties according to the soil and climate characteristics of the region, seed cleaning, spraying, and agrotechnical maintenance rules. In addition to the seed exhibition and sale fair, numerous companies specializing in agriculture exhibited machinery, aggregates, unmanned aerial vehicles, irrigation technologies, fertilizer, pesticide samples, and planting materials at the festival. During the festival, the subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Agriculture and specialists of other state enterprises informed the farmers according to the directions of their activities, as well as the educational work was carried out by the representatives of a number of private companies about the agrarian credit services.

At the festival, according to the priority directions of the region, the experts of the Agrarian Training Center of the Agrarian Services Agency and the Shamakhi Grape Seeding Center provided training to farmers. It should be noted that the next seed exhibition-fair will be organized on August 25 in Agstafa region.
