Organized by the Agrarian Innovation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, the next seed exhibiton-sale fair was held in Sabirabad district. Farmers from Sabirabad, Saatli, Bilasuvar, Imishli, Salyan regions participated in the fair. At the seed exhibiton and sale fair, agricultural products and technologies, certified seeds of various plant varieties were displayed.

Opening the event with an introductory speech, the head of Sabirabad district executive power, Siragaddin Jabbarov, said that as in all fields of agriculture, important attention is paid to the development of seed production. Today, the seed exhibition and sale fair held in the region provides great opportunities for farmers from the region and surrounding regions to buy quality seeds. Because in order to increase productivity, farmers should prefer quality seeds.

Director of Agrarian Innovation Center Anar Jafarov noted that modern inovations are used in seed production today, and seeds suitable for different climatic conditions are grown. Most importantly, farmers have the opportunity to make a free choice, the fairs held in the regions are one such opportunity.

Madina Aliyeva, chairperson of the Azerbaijan Seed Growers’ Association, noted that one of the main goals of holding fairs in different regions is to further develop the seed market, including local seed production.

“National Forum of Seed Growers” was also held in the framework of the event. A panel discussion on “Sustainable development of seed farming in Azerbaijan: challenges, innovations and solutions” was held at the forum. During the panel discussion, the experts of the Azerbaijan Seed Growers Association, the State Seed Fund, the Agrarian Services Agency, “Agrodairy”LLC, the experts of the Scientific and Research Institutes of Agriculture, Horticulture and Plant Protection and Technical Plants made presentations and held discussions on various topics in the direction of seed production. About 100 seed producers and company representatives participated in the forum/ During the forum, Azerbaijan Seed Growers Association presented membership certificates to Association member companies.

The next seed exhibition and sale fair will be held in Bilasuvar district as part of the Agrarian Innovation Festival.
