Seed exhibition and sale fairs were held in Balaken and Gakh districts

On the eve of autumn planting, the next seed exhibition-sale fair and Agrarian Business Festival was held in Balaken and Gakh regions under the organization of the Agrarian Innovation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture in order to ensure access to certified, climate-friendly, quality seeds for farmers, to develop the seed market and local seed production.

Cereal (barley, wheat), vegetable, cotton plant varieties and seeds were exhibited and sold at the fair.

Seed growers from Balaken, Gakh, Gabala, Sheki, Zagatala, Oguz regions and private companies operating in this field participated in the seed exhibition-sale fairs. At the fairs, farmers were informed about the advantages of using certified seeds as planting material, the selection of seeds suitable for local conditions and soil characteristics, and the role of agrotechnical care in increasing productivity.

The final event of Sheki-Zagatala economic district was held in Balakan district. At the festivals held in front of Balakan "ASAN service" center and Nizami park of Gakh district, institutions of the Ministry of Agriculture and other state institutions informed farmers about their services.

At the same time, seed and seed care tools, modern irrigation systems, various agricultural machinery and aggregates, unmanned aerial vehicles, and plant protection tools were exhibited at the festivals.

Along with the display of agricultural products, a credit fair was held within the festival. At the fair, farmers were informed about various credit products, the conditions of granting agricultural loans, and the questions of farmers were answered.

Within the framework of the festival, a panel discussion on "Future development prospects of the agrarian sector of Sheki-Zagatala economic region" was held in Balakan region.

In the panel discussion, experts from the Plant Protection and Fumigation (disinfection) Center of the Agrarian Services Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, experts from the scientific research institutes of Agriculture, Fruit Growing and Tea Cultivation and the head of the NutLab startup exchanged opinions on the priority directions of the region's agriculture.

In accordance with the priorities of the COP29 event, alternative energy installations, climate change-resistant local fruit and vegetable seeds and ecological products were displayed at the festival.

It should be noted that during the current year, a seed exhibition-sale fair was organized in 10 different regions of the country, and it is planned to be held in Jalilabad, Shabran, and Beylagan regions.
